How likely is it that RCB will make it to the IPL 2024 playoffs since they have beaten SRH in six of their last seven games?

Following their victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru seemed to have found some hope again. In the 2024 Indian Premier League, RCB defeated Punjab Kings at home in the Dafabet Stadium to snap their six-match losing streak. They hadn’t triumphed in exactly a month before.

It was an unexpected win, but without even increasing their net run rate, it increased their chances of making the postseason. After nine games, they have just four points, which keeps them in the bottom part of the standings.

Above all, RCB is not going to be able to place in the first two spots on the table. They should place in the top three or fourth league standings at the end of the league stage if they win their final five games. Even if net run rate is ignored, they will virtually certainly be assured a postseason berth with 14 points overall.

The top three teams—Kashtrapati Bhavan, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—must win the majority of their remaining games for RCB to advance to fourth place. If they can hold onto it, RR and KKR will finish with twenty, twenty, and twenty points, respectively, with two losses and one for SRH. RCB will probably easily make the playoffs given that they are currently in fourth place with 14 points.

Hyderabad and Kolkata, however, still have a remote chance of finishing third in the standings, which would need them to play poorly and win just one of their remaining three games in order to finish with 12 points. Additionally, if the Lucknow Super Giants can win five of their next six games and finish the season with 20 points, RCB, with 14 points, can make the playoffs as the third-place team.

After overcoming Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team led by Faf du Plessis will play two games against Gujarat Titans before taking on Punjab Kings. GT has had a quiet start to the rummy nabob IPL 2024 season, winning four of their first nine games. As of right now, they are ranked sixth. Punjab Kings have struggled to regain momentum after six games in a row of defeats, including a four-game losing run.
